Wii

I really don't know what came over me. I always said that we would never have a video game console in our house. I thought they were stupid. Then they made the Wii. I always have been somewhat intrigued by the fact that you have to move to use it. For someone who lacks coordination on all levels, I wondered if I would finally be able to play A sport...any sport without completely humiliating myself and without sporting goods bouncing off my head (a long story for another post for another day).

When Michael was told by many of his doctors that he needed to exercise for many, many minutes every day to control his blood sugar, I began to ponder different ways of getting your body moving. After awhile, the natural connection between Michael's love for all things that plug in and light up, and the Wii's moment involving sports clicked.

Surprisingly I was the one that suggested we get it (I am usually the one with the tight fists on the purse strings--and really, how many things do we really need that plug in and light up), but following financial management counsel, we waited awhile, and finally, I told Michael we were buying it.

My kids love it. All four of them. :-) Andrew loves to dance to the music; Nathan likes that he gets to play with Abbie (unlike on the computer where she rarely wants to hand over the mouse and he politely obliges); Abbie has already mastered the navigation and loves it all, and Michael--it plugs in, lights up and he plays with the kids so he's just happy.

Abbie really getting into the boxing.

Nathan trying out the boxing, and Abbie is giving instructions. She's become quite the coach.

So the Farmer family has gone the way of video games, but we're having lots of fun as a family and getting a little exercise as a bonus, and yes, I, me, the uncoordinated one, was the winner in our first round of baseball so even I can play a sport. :-) We love our Wii.

I love hearing of family time. We don't have a wii but Jon's mom does and the boys love it. They are a fun toy.
