Reasons behind lack of posts

Ok... I know that it has been awhile since I have blogged, but things have been out of whack. As posted previously, I had to take the long blood glucose test--well, my numbers were too high which meant I failed. So I have been altering my diet to eat fewer carbohydrates (less than 200 a day) which hasn't been easy since I love milk and well, everything carbohydrate related. For the first few days, it was awful, but after talking with the diabetes people, I was allowed a few more carbs in the morning, and although I have not learned to love the new diet, I am learning to live with it. I am testing my blood sugar four times a day, and Abbie has been a good helper to remind me when it is time to test. She calls it practicing my bleeds. My energy levels are starting to come back to normal, and I almost feel close to normal. Seven more weeks, seven more weeks....

Another reason I haven't posted is because my family and I used practically every waking moment for the last two weeks watching the Olympics. Abbie particularly loved the gymnastics and called the Americans the pretty pink and red ladies. She boasted that she could do the same tricks that she saw on TV--mostly the floor routines. Her interpretations were both creative and could be called artistic, if you use the term loosely. :-). We also enjoyed the diving which Nathan called the "ahhhh---- SPLASH!" It was sad to see the Olympics end, but we definitely needed to get back on a regular sleep schedule. Too many late nights for these kids!

We made two really sad attempts at switching Nathan out of the crib into a toddler bed this last week. He was miserable, and I couldn't handle the screaming. At first things looked promising as he jumped right into the new bed with his new Curious George bedding, but it didn't last. It just wasn't right for him. He just wanted to be in his bed with his animals. So we are taking a break from the transition right now and he is currently asleep in the crib with his moose, teddy bear, puppy and George.... and yes, he does take inventory every night and nap. He is a silly kid.

Nathan in his new bed. Unfortunately, the smiles did not last.

I am sorry that your testing didn't go very well and I hope that your next 7 weeks flies by! We loved the Olympics at our house too and it was fun to see Noelle try to do the gymnastics as well. I should have had the video camera out. (=
Nathan looks so cute in his bed! Where did you get the bedding. My boy would be so jealous!
