Random thoughts and random happenings

Sometimes you have things happen that you want to blog about but aren't really worthy of their own post so your only option is to throw them all together in what you hope will be something that is random post worthy, but in all reality you know you are just trying to document your life so you don't care too much what is deemed "post worthy" by your three readers. This is what has been going on around here. Nothing worthy of it's own post, but if you throw it all together, it's does fulfill the random post category requirements. So here goes....

Today while I was sorting laundry I determined that Andrew has learned the joy of hiding things because I found the following in the boys' hamper:

  • A shoe
  • 24-inch stuffed Elmo
  • Three swim diapers with Nemo on them
  • Four puzzle pieces
  • A rattle
  • One of those baseball caps that you get ice cream in from Baskin Robbins in the summer but could never, even if you wanted to, actually fit it on your head
  • A dinosaur--specifically a T-Rex
  • Along with several pieces of boy laundry
We are going to start finishing our basement next week. When I say "we" I mean we hired the guy around the corner to do it. I am certain more posts will come of this, but the state of the basement today is certainly not worthy of it's own post.

I am tired of colds. Each of us has taken a turn with one lately, and I am ready for colds to leave us. We've taken our turn; please move on to the next lucky recipient. Thank you.

I have started an indexing goal to help with our stake's family history indexing project this year. I am getting pretty efficient, and I like that I can do something service related that doesn't involve getting a babysitter or housework.

I think Andrew is trying for molars, but because he was 13-months old before he got his first tooth, I am not holding my breath until they break through.

Michael's work opened an office in Rexburg. I am not a fan of the whole idea, but I am trying to be supportive of him commuting again to an office that is farther away than my basement. Michael may beg to differ on my definition of supportive.

Nathan told me I needed to get a haircut because I was looking really shaggy. Hint taken, son. It's on the agenda.

Abbie's doing well with her piano lessons. She can play "Ode to Joy" and thinks that is pretty great--and so do I. When I started lessons, I became so sick of playing middle C for the first month, and I am sure my dear mother was pretty sick of hearing the same note over and over and over and over and over and over. Yes, piano lesson methods have evolved and that is worthy of a round of "Ode to Joy" in my book any day.

Last weekend I bought a new faucet for the kitchen sink. I hope I can say that it is installed by next weekend.

From now on I am going to limit my online shopping to Amazon (for all things I don't want to drag the kids to the store for) and JCPenney (essential for my skinny daughters clothing needs). They are safe, and that's all I want to document about that.

Finished our income tax returns the other night. Hurray for refunds which lead to having finished basements!

Andrew likes to try and play on the computer. This act lead to the untimely death of my mouse. I miss it. I have to use the spare, and it's not great, but it'll do. Andrew is getting taller and more curious so the baby-proofing line just moved a little higher.

I am very thankful for my washing machine and dryer. Although I don't particularly enjoy doing laundry, this past week would have been much, much more stressful without them. Our kids were sick, sick, sick this week (I'll spare you the details and just say I am grateful we are on the mend.) And so I say thank you Mr Kenmore. I'll promise to do everything I can to avoid any 14-hour marathons of non-stop washing for you in the future. Thank you for your service.

Spring is coming. I believe that it will. I am looking forward to it. Until then, this will have to do:

TTFN!
