Hurray for Nathan! Hurray! Yes, I am really excited about this news. Today during Nathan's speech appointment, his wonderful speech pathologist, Debra, retested him. Six months ago during our initial visit, Nathan scored in the 8th percentile which basically means not so great. Today he scored in the 35th percentile which is in the normal range for his age! Hurray! The progress that he has made in such a short amount of time is truly amazing. It's even more amazing when you factor in that we had to take a month off to figure out if insurance company was on board (or in our case not on board) and we took another two weeks off when Andrew was born. He just has to work out two more sounds which are typically not correctly produced until a child is three years old. Debra says if he can get those sounds down (which are coming rapidly), he'll be in the high range of normal in no time at all.
The plan now is to have Debra keeping working with him until her maternity leave at the end of the month, and then we'll check back with her around his birthday to see if he is still on track. Hurray for Nathan!
So again I say Hurray for Nathan! Good job Nathan. You've been working really hard, and the results are in!
