Hurray for Spring. Although we still have oodles of snow in our front yard and nothing is green. I am ready to move on. Winter was long and cold and the last few weeks haven't been kind. Any of my loyal blog followers (if I can be so bold as to assume that I have followers) have probably given up on me since I haven't posted for a long time, but things have been out of whack, and we are still trying to whack everything back in place.
It all started March 10. Nathan started the ever fun symptoms of what we thought was a typical stomach virus. After not being able to keep anything down for 24 hours, we thought he was doing better. Abbie came down with it a few days later and then Nathan started up again. We talked to the nurse at the pediatrician's office, and off we went to the ER. Nathan was severely dehydrated and got an IV and an invitation to stay upstairs for a few days. That was one of the longest nights of our lives. I kept telling Michael that I would rather go through labor again for both of them than see the kids so sick. Abbie and I went home, and left our boys. I am so grateful that Michael knew what to do. We had great medical help, and things started getting better quickly after that..an answer to our prayers.
Blood tests, prescriptions, hospital food, two doctor's appointments, a hundred diapers, and a few million disinfecting wipes later, we are all home. Turns out they had rotovirus. We were actually quarantined in our house until all symptoms had disappeared. Finally, I had a really good excuse to not open to the door to unwanted solicitors. :-). Things are returning to normal. I am so grateful for Michael who risked his GPA this semester to be the best dad ever. I never could have survived that horrible week without him. Thanks to our family who helped in every way imaginable. Just knowing you were there and willing was a great comfort.
