With our recent illness, our daily routines went right out the window. My children watched way too much television as their father and I went in and out of varying levels of deliriousness. They of course were thrilled by countless hours of Curious George, Word World, and Little Einsteins.
After watching our Winnie the Pooh trilogy (yes, Hundred Acre Wood fans, there is a trilogy) twice over the course of two days, I started thinking about the shows my kids routinely watch. I began to have questions about these shows, and since I can't reach the creators, writers or producers of these shows, I am going to put them before you, my three blog readers, in hopes that you can help me find the answers to my pressing questions.
Curious George: My question here is actually concerning the Man with the Yellow Hat. What does this guy do for a job--cause I want it. The man has a great apartment in the city, a country house, a convertible, and he can still afford to go on Hawaiian vacations and clean up the messes of a monkey. He never appears to be going to do much except when he's helping the geniuses. Very curious indeed.
Dinosaur Train: Here they teach kids about dinosaurs--all sorts of details. They explain herbivore, omnivores, and carnivores, but they never explain where the carnivores get the meat to eat. All the dinosaurs are so friendly with each other as they ride between the Jurassic and Cretaceous time periods. I just wonder how long it'll be before the brothers Buddy, (the T. Rex) and Don (pteranodon) go head to head and we see who the real carnivore is.
Word World: Just where do all those letters come from? If I find the source, will they work around here?
Sid the Science Kid: Does teacher Susie ever have a lesson plan picked out for the day or does she just hope that Sid had an eventful morning and run with it? (Everyday at preschool, the lessons are directly related to whatever is on Sid's mind at the breakfast table). Why does Sid's grandma pick him up from school everyday when his parents are in the backyard when they get home?
Little Einsteins: This show is of course completely unrealistic, but I often wonder why the "Einsteins" ever get out of Rocket to travel through the woods or the frozen tundra. They can ride in their favorite rocket ship. I don't understand why they have so much trouble clearing the Golden Gate Bridge when they can make it to Saturn and back in 20 minutes. Really, kids for being Einsteins, I wonder if you have really thought through your travel arrangements and assets. My other question is concerning Leo and Annie's parents, do they know that there is a giant Rocket garage in their backyard? Do they care? Are they jealous of their well-traveled youngsters? I wonder what they tell their parents at dinner....
So there you have it. These are the things I ponder when a fever of 102 degrees has taken over my consciousness. I look forward to your answers to quiet my pondering mind. So what exactly do you ponder?

Ha ha ha...I can't tell you how many times I have watched those shows and thought similar things. Like why in the world would you trust a Monkey to run errands for you or why is it everyone always wears the same clothes. I think Teacher Suzie has it made that her class is only made of 4 students even if they are the ones planning the lessons for her. The dinosaur train is the one that has been killing me lately. I mean seriously, I have never seen Dinosaurs that tame. They even rival Barney although I don't usually want to shoot Buddy or Tiny. I agree with you whole heartedly though and am just thankful I don't have kids that notice these small differences too and ask me why. I am not sure I could find a good enough answer for them. (=
