Summer sleeping

Bedtime is hard for our kids in the summertime because I am such a mean mom that I try to maintain some sort of schedule regardless of summer and the late evening sun. Mostly it's because of the fact that my kids absolutely refuse to sleep past 7 a.m., and boy, does the crankiness level increase if they don't get enough sleep.

So the other night, due to Nathan's really late nap (we're talking 5 p.m. here--little stinker), the kids refused to go to sleep. After already tucking them in at least three times, I sent them back to bed again and went in the other room. It was quiet so I assumed all was well--finally. When we were heading to bed, we checked on the little monkeys and this is what we found:

The light was on and they were both dead asleep. They just passed out from sheer exhaustion in the middle of their play. Nathan was tenderly moved over to his own bed by his dad. He didn't flinch while Abbie kind of groaned at the disturbance. Funny kids. I am grateful that they are such good buddies.
