Hello, beautiful

That's how the Apple website describes Mom's new toy:

A brand-spanking new 24-inch iMac, and if you are a fan boy, it can take your breathe away. Unfortunately, I am not geeky enough to explain all the terrific specs to you, but I have learned a few neat things about it since we bought it earlier this week:

  • With this computer, you don't have enough time to go to the bathroom before the pictures will be uploaded from your camera--this is a good thing.
  • Uploading photos to the blog takes a few seconds rather than enough time to make one bologna and one PB and J sandwich.
  • The spinning wheel of death is purely optional.
  • Having larger than life crystal clear photos of yourself in the middle of your kitchen isn't always as fun or as flattering as it could be. :-)
  • Your can run multiple programs at the same time and see all the windows at once!
  • You can even switch between programs without having to reboot!
  • I don't hear, "Mom! The computer is too tired for pbskids.org again!" any more.

Our trusty Mac Mini has been a great computer for us, but with over 5000 photos stored on it not to mention hours of video, the poor thing and reached it's limits and then some so we decided to do a major upgrade. The iMac has been a great addition to the family, but the deal gets even better because we were able to get a free iPod Touchand a free printer!

Abbie says that my iPod is more fun than Dad's because it can make noise (the new ones have speakers) even though I don't have as many games on it yet. :-)

With the summer being so rainy, this is the only new toy that the poor kids have been able to get any real use out of, but hopefully the sun will come out soon, and we'll be outside taking photos to upload to the new computer.

(Please note the photos/images used in this post are simulated not actual photos of our new toys :-)
