Two things happened to me today that really made me question why. I saw a story on the news today about an airline that flies only pets. For a mere $300 round trip you can fly Spot or Puff and then pick them up at the airport after you have departed your own flight. I just don't understand how you can justify spending $300 so your pet can fly in animal first class, but then I don't understand pet Christmas gifts or why the commercials for pet food make cat food look more gourmet than people food.
The second thing that happened today was when Abbie came home from preschool and told me that a girl brought her iPod to preschool. OK... really I don't understand why a preschooler needs an iPod. I mean really, the kid is four, but my real question is why did she have to bring it to preschool? I guess our love for preschool music hasn't hit the point where we can't go two hours without rocking out. I also wonder what does this mean for kindergarten. I was hoping the begging and pleading for electronics would wait a little longer at least until the age of seven or eight.
I must lead a very sheltered and quiet life, and I am fine with this arrangement. I guess it'll stay that way--at least until I get my own iPod. :-)

I think people are completely nuts when it comes to their animals. Compared to some people you would think our poor dog was mistreated but I swear he isn't. He is loved sometimes way too much but sadly we don't afford the sterling silver food bowls or the ever expensive $300 airline tickets.
Our first experience with something like an iPod was when we were in nursery and one of the kids was talking about his MP3 player. We were shocked since we never let our 2 year old touch anything that could break easily. It is crazy how early we are introducing technology to our kids. Although I have to say that all three of my kids have cheap MP3 players that they love. (= Maybe I am crazy but we love music at our house and I can't wait until I get to have my own iPod!
