Rewards and report cards

As a mom, I know that my rewards come in the forms of hugs, kisses and smiles. Each one of my kids is usually pretty good about sharing their hugs and kisses with mom. But today I received a different kind of report from Abbie. I had been helping the kids with something, and it was time for me to start making dinner (nothing gourmet mind you..usually something I can concoct in the same amount of time it takes Curious George to get into and out of trouble twice) so I started a Curious George episode for the kids to be hypnotized by... I mean enthralled in an educational experience while I boiled some water.

Abbie turned to me and said: You are a great mom. You knew I wanted George and just put it on.
Mom: Thanks, Abbie. I am trying to be a good mom.
Abbie: Well, you are a good mom..(small pause)... today.

I guess we are on a day to day basis around here. We'll see what tomorrow brings.
