If I am in the middle of something when I hear Nathan making noises from his crib, I send Abbie in to entertain him for a few minutes so I can finish. Usually, she "reads" him a book from the library or they sing songs. Today, however, she decided to read scriptures to him, and because the story that she told was slightly accurate and very entertaining, I thought I would share it with you.
Book of Mormon Stories
as told by Abigail Farmer
And it came to pass in Chapter 25 King Benjamin told the people that their children should not fight so they prayed and were happy. King Benjamin was happy in his tall temple tower. The people prayed so that they would be happy and not scared anymore. Just then something happened. The liahona told the Lamanites to stop being so cranky so Alma could baptize all the people. Then Enos prayed and prayed. Moroni prayed too so he could save the gold plates so Joseph Smith could be the prophet. Just then something happened. Jesus Christ told the people to love their children so they could live happily ever after. The End.
After this tale, she and Nathan sang Book of Mormon stories. It was a proud Mama moment. I knew she liked to have Family Home Evening, and now I know she is retaining some of it especially the parts about praying. She's great kid. I only wish I had the audio. She used the same tone and inflection in her voice that the narrator uses on the Book of Mormon Stories DVD from the church. It was a pretty good match. She did have a lot of excitement in her voice during the "just then" sections. She loves to share stories. Thanks Abbie for sharing your Book of Mormon stories with us this morning.
